Privacy Policy

Hotfork is a local-first iOS application. This policy describes how the app, published by ZORDON INTELLIGENCE SPÓŁKA Z OGRANICZONĄ ODPOWIEDZIALNOŚCIĄ (the “company”, “we”, “us”), handles information when you use it.

TL;DR

Hotfork collects almost nothing. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising SDKs and no profiling. The app stores your bookmarks on your device only. When you open a trend range or run a search, the app makes a public HTTPS request to GitHub’s public API (tRPC/JSON) — the same requests your own browser makes when you visit github.com/trending.

Because the app runs locally and talks directly to GitHub’s public API, there is no personal data to speak of. Specifically:

3. What the app does with your data

The only information the app touches is the feed of public repositories returned by GitHub’s public API. Repository data is public information about software projects — not information about you. Your bookmarks and search history are stored on your device (in SwiftData) and are never transmitted to us or to any server we control.

Because we never receive your data, we do not process, sell, share, or retain anything that could identify you. There is nothing to export, correct, or delete on our side.

4. Requests to GitHub

When you open a trend range (daily, weekly, monthly) or perform a search, Hotfork sends a standard HTTPS request to GitHub’s public API. This behaves like any normal HTTP request from your device: GitHub may see your IP address and the request path under GitHub’s own Privacy Statement, which we do not control. Hotfork does not send it your bookmarks, your name, or any other personal data.

5. Children’s privacy

Hotfork is a general-audience app and is not directed at children. As the app collects no personal information at all, there is no personal data from children that we could retain. There is nothing in the app designed to attract children to provide information.

These pages do not set cookies, and Hotfork the app does not use cookies. If you open the landing site in a browser, no cookies, storage, or fingerprinting of any kind is used. (The web hosting platform may apply its own essential HTTP infrastructure, which is not under our control and is used solely to deliver the pages you request.)

7. Legal basis (GDPR / RODO)

This app is used within the European Economic Area, where the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”, implemented in Polish law as RODO) applies. Because we collect and process no personal data, there is no data-processing activity for which a legal basis would be required. To the extent any incidental processing could occur (for example, through ordinary network requests), our basis would be legitimate interest in providing the core functions you request (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Under GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Because Hotfork holds no personal data about you, most of these rights have nothing to act on; if you have any question, contact us below.

9. Data retention

We retain nothing. On-device data (bookmarks, search history) is kept as long as you choose to keep it and is destroyed when you delete the app.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with an updated “Last updated” date. Material changes will be highlighted when the change is announced.
